Testing

OCULUS Keratograph 5M is an advanced high-resolution color camera system with intelligent software utilized in analyzing and collecting data of the ocular surface. The Keratograph 5M can measure non-invasively the quality and tear film stability (NIKBUT) as well as image the Meibomian glands (Meibography). These complex oil producing glands help stabilize tear film and prevent evaporation. Improperly functioning Meibomian glands inevitably results in dry eye syndrome.

Therapies

With recent advances in understanding the cause of dry eyes, there are now a variety of options available to help people suffering from dry eyes. Current approaches include advanced artificial tear formulations and nutritional supplements, prescription eye drops, punctal plugs, and new methods to treat Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), the most frequent cause of dry eye.

To treat and manage MGD, we will be offering a new in-office procedure that combines heat and incorporates a customized massage and Pulse Lid Modulation (PLM) to facilitate gland expression and good Meibomian gland health.

When dry eye is so severe with resulting damage to ocular surface cells, Amniotic Membrane Placement (AMG) can be placed on the cornea to speed healing, reduce inflammation and scarring. AMG can truly restore a persons’ quality of life by easing suffering, improving comfort and helping preserve vision.
